If like me you can’t wait for the Transformers Movie, then you’ll love these pictures of the forthcoming headphones based on the characters of Frenzy & Rumble. They even transform from headphones to desktop speakers. I’m sure they’ll sound rubbish, but that’s not the point, is it?
Available in July, priced $37.

Tech Digest have reviewed Motorola’s full size Bluetooth headphones, the S805 and given them a decent review.
The cans are awarded 3 out of 5 with praise for their design, simplicity and battery life. However, the sound quality is rated as being quite poor, with the reviewer placing the blame at the limitations of the Bluetooth A2DP protocol rather than the headphones themselves.

Turtle Beach are expanding their well-respected range of gaming headphones with the Ear Force W3, a set of wireless headphones aimed specifically for the Nintendo Wii console.
Due to the rather “energetic” movements required during a session of, for example, Wario Ware Smooth Moves, the W3 are designed to stay onto your head no matter how much you jump about while pretending to skip or hula hoop.
Rather unusually, these headphones don’t use Bluetooth and instead require a sender box supplied with the headphones which plugs directly into your Wii. Handily, Turtle Beach also supply an audio cable splitter to allow you to use the headphones without pulling the audio cables out of your TV.
Available now priced at a fairly reasonable $59.95.

There’s something different, but strangely familiar about the design of Motorola’s new Bluetooth headphones, the S9. It’s one of those designs I quite like but somehow can’t see myself actually wearing…
Apart from the design, these headphones will sport the standard Bluetooth ability to sync with both cellphones and MP3 players wirelessly. They are also ultra light (around an ounce) but unfortunately only offer a measly six hours of use from a single battery.
Available at an unknown point in the first half of this year for an unknown price. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, details are still sketchy.

I have to admit to having never really understood the point of wireless headphones (maybe it’s because I don’t live with my parents anymore?) but The Tech Lounge’s review of the Sennheiser RS130 Wireless Headphones has started to change my mind.
The reviewer is left particularly impressed with the sound quality of these headphones, although you should expect that for a $150 set of cans. They also appear to have little problems with interference, a common problem with wireless audio. Overall, they sound like a good buy.

Obviously worried that Headphone News hadn’t mentioned bone-conducting headphones for at least two months, Thanko have quickly moved to remedy the situation with a particularly ugly new set of headphones.
Costing somewhere around $82 the Thanko Vonia headphones are placed somewhere around, but not on, the ears and vibrate the sound through your jaw bone. Did I mention that they’re also very, very ugly?

CNET have posted a review of the Bose TriPort IE headphones and unfortunately it pretty much tallies with earlier disappointing reviews.
The headphones receive a pretty poor 5.7 out of 10 in the review with the lack of noise-isolation and poor fit being the largest problems. The reviewer also comments on the very heavy bass on these earphones, something which has been noted as a negative previously.

TechTree have another review of Bose Quiet Comfort 3 headphones and again it’s largely positive.
Awarding them 4 out of 5, the noise-canceling and sound quality of these headphones once again impress the reviewer.

Laptop accessory manufacturor Targus are to make a move into the headphones arena with the release of the Travel-Ease Active Noise Cancellation Headphones.
To be released in April priced at $69.99 these headphones feature the now widespread noise-canceling technology made famous by Bose. The almost unique selling point of these full-size cans is the “Talk Through” mode which allows you to hear external noise without removing the headphones. Unfortunately, they were beaten to this innovation by Sennheiser who have their own similar but slightly different TalkThrough technology (the difference is the space in the middle, in case you’re wondering).
Powered by a single AA battery, Targus claim a barely believable 80 hours of use before a battery change is required. Assuming they aren’t terrible, they should be a good buy considering the price…
