Although far from being an original design, there’s something a bit charming about the clunky retro stylings of the Novac LP-IP002 iWalk headphones.
Designed to hold a 2nd generation iPod Nano in the most visible way possible the iWalk is available for around $80.

CNET have a review of the Logitech FreePulse Bluetooth headphones and although not as positive as the last review I reported they still come out pretty well.
The 7.3 awarded by CNET is actually a very good review by their strict standards and it’s really the design of the FreePulse headphones that won CNET over rather than the sound quality, which they only rate as decent. However, one thing the review notes as missing from the headphones is the ability to control your player, a feature found on most other Bluetooth headphones.
If you are considering buying these Bluetooth headphones, something worth noting is the CNET readers reviews with more than one user commenting on their discomfort with the headphones. Personally, I’d try them on before I buy them, if possible.

The wireless Sennheiser RS110’s have been won by Helen Wood in Essex in the UK. The pair of black Sennheiser CX300 in-ear headphones go to Alfredo Arraiza in Pamplona, Spain.
Well done to the winners and commiserations to those who missed out. Better luck next time!

Despite my constant attempts to pour scorn over previous bone conducting headphones, TEAC are undeterred and have announced their very own set, the HP-F100.
Actually a re-branded set of Filltune headphones, the HP-F100 come with an amplifier and give around 10 hours of use on a single set of batteries.
If you want a pair, a trip to Japan will probably be in order with the price converting to around $440.

Creative

Looking to leverage their successful in-ear Zen Aurvana headphones, Creative are introducing the new Aurvana DJ Headphones.
Aimed mainly at home DJs though with an eye on the portable music player market, Creative have gone for fairly high-spec components including oxygen-free copper cabling and gold-plated plugs. They also boast Creative’s X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity audio system which, as these things tend to, promises all sorts of amazing stuff.
The headphones also have a few nice design touches with the single sided-cable and 180 degree rubber-grip swiveling earcups showing their DJ credentials. Looks wise, the Aurvana DJ headphones sport a nice brushed metal look on the earcups with the headband looking thick and capable of handing some rough use.
Available in Singapore only at the moment priced at around $170, expect to see these heading to the rest of the world fairly soon.

Koss
Posted on Friday, April 13, 2007 by Ian S

Matthew over at Headphonedeals has pointed out an unusual thing to me, Swedish headphone manufacturer Kossart who seem to produce an interesting range of Koss-like headphones.
Chief example is the Kossart iPro which is unbelievably similar to the better known Koss PORTAPRO. Of course, similar looking headphones aren’t unusual but the PORTAPRO doesn’t exactly have standard stylings.
To be honest, I’ve no idea what’s actually going on here. Sweden isn’t usually known for it’s knock-off electronics goods which makes this all the more unusual. Any ideas?

Headphone News reader Bunny_Man has fired a quick (and not very complimentary) review of Motorola’s S805 Bluetooth headphones in the comments section of an earlier review on this site. It’s worth reading if you’re thinking of buying these ‘phones so here it is again in case you missed it:
These are pure over priced crap. I’ve waited for these to go on sale at my local CompUSA, This week only for $80 after rebate (list at $150).
I used a JustCom USB Blutooth Class2+EDR adaptor, I had to figure out how to get the MS Media player to work with them. (Hint: After you’ve loaded your Bluetooth device drivers & rebooted, Click on the WMP sound device property & change it to your headphones)
The headphones were fully charged and linked up fine. They linked fine to my Moto KRZR, but Verizon neuterd the A2DP, so no go on the BT music player. BUT OH MY GOD!, they sounded like POOP! Don’t-even try to bump up the bass, as it will just kill the sound stream. So much so that I wonder if I need the Class-1 higher power version adapter to keep the sound from falling apart. I know it’s a digital link, but the way they sound just turns to crap at higher volumes or even with higher bass at low volumes, it just feels like something can’t pull the load.
Don’t buy them unless you plan to evaluate your setup and then return them like I will. These stink big time. I just don’t want to wear wires to my phone or use the Mini USB earplugs that I bought for the KRZR. What to do? Keep looking and hope for better.
Think I’ll stay away from this pair of headphones!
If anyone else wants to review a pair of headphones for the site, send me an email.

Ultrasone

Ultrasone have a reputation for making great sounding headphones and that is certainly reflected in MP3.com’s review of the Ultrasone HFI-700.
The review rates the sound as “weighty” and “huge”, which I’m taking to be complements. It’s also described as being “highly defined” which is definitely something you’d look for in a $250 pair of headphones. Further praise is also lavished on the comfort and build quality of these ‘phones with no real negatives being mentioned.
It’s a great review and based on some other positive reviews I’ve seen, they seem a good buy if you want a pair of headphones that can be used for both music and movies.
