V-MODA have added a microphone to their popular Vibe series of headphones and created the new Vibe Duo, a set of earphones aimed squarely at the new iPhone market.

By including the same well received sound technology as the original Vibe earphones the Vibe Duo should sound great. The in-line microphone allows the headphones to be used as a hands-free kit with an iPhone when not listening to music.

Included in the package is a leather carry pouch and 8 pairs of silicon ear tips in a variety of sizes.

The Vibe Duo are available now priced at $101.

If you were interested in the highly-rated V-Moda Vibe earphones but found the standard colors a bit dull then you’ll love the new red and mocha colors.

The Red Roxx version has obviously been styled on the (PRODUCT) RED range designed to help fight AIDS in Africa and will perfectly match the (RED) iPod.

The Mocha version is, to put it bluntly, brown.

CNet have a review of the stunning looking V-Moda Vibe headphones and fortunately, they think they’re great.

As would be expected from V-Moda, CNet reckon the Vibe sound great, despite a sometimes over powering bass range. The reviewer also shares my opinion on the looks of these earbuds though does have some doubts over the comfort of the buds.

Rating these headphones at a very good 7.7 out of 10, CNet certainly like these $101 earphones.

CNET have got a great list of 4 earbuds that are available for under $100. For me, $100 is pretty much the maximum price most people will stretch to for a pair of earbuds so the article is really interesting.

First up is the bass heavy V-Moda Bass Freq headphones. Living up to their name, these headphones can output 122dB at 20Hz - enough to make any head explode. These have been rated at 8 out of 10 by CNET and at $50 represent a great buy.

Next up is the $100 Etymotic ER-6 Isolator. These were also awarded an 8 out of 10 by CNET and you get excellent sound and noise-isolation for your extra money.

Thirdly they have the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studio which although not quite as highly rated as the V-Moda and Etymotic ‘phones they do offer good sound quality for your $100.

Finally, CNET recommend the Shure E2c. Again costing $100 these are the lowest rated headphones in the round-up but were still awarded a very good 7.5 out of 10. Although the sound is excellent, the fit of these unusally shaped earphones seem to lose them marks.

I have to admit to being slightly dubious when I first heard about the head-crushing bass of the V-Moda Bass Freq earphones but I might have to think again after reading CNET’s review.

Giving them an excellent 8 out of 10, CNET are particularly pleased with the sound quality of these noise-isolating earbuds despite acknowledging that the bass might be a bit much for some listeners.

Surprisingly, CNET also like the look of these earphones. I’ve yet to see them in the flesh but the pictures I’ve seen make the red version seem a bit out there but the reviewer finds them stylish. Personally I think I would stick to a boring pair of black or white ‘phones.

Overall, these headphones seem a good buy for a budget $50.

The people at Focal have released the the V-Moda Bass Freq earphones, a set of ‘phones for people who love to hear the bass in their music.

They run on a frequency of 8Hz - 22000Hz and can output a brain shaking 122dB at 20Hz.

Luckily they’re noise isolating so should spare everyone else in the train from having their heads explode.

The earphones are available in the three colours, the standard black and white plus a shocking shade of red.
